Wiederschaun, the logout helper

Why should I care about Wiederschaun?

If you are like me, you like the feeling of logging out of sites. Not only because you are a little paranoid and don't want to be tracked, but also because it's somehow relaxing to know that you're logged out when you close a tab.

Recently, Google made it a lot harder to actually log out by hiding the logout button in a "popup", requiring you to click two times to log out.

Wiederschaun brings the logout button back in the top bar where it belongs.

How do I get it?

I have not published the extension on the Google Chrome Web Store since it is currently missing an icon. You can install the extension yourself:

  1. Download the files.
  2. Go to chrome://settings/extensions.
  3. In the top right corner, activate "Developer mode".
  4. Click "Load unpacked extension…" and select the folder where the extension files are saved. The extension should now be imported into your browser.
  5. Continue browsing.

Why this stupid name?

"Wiederschaun" is a German word and means "Goodbye".
