Wiederschaun, the logout helper
Why should I care about Wiederschaun?
If you are like me, you like the feeling of logging out of sites. Not only because you are a little paranoid and don't want to be tracked, but also because it's somehow relaxing to know that you're logged out when you close a tab.
Recently, Google made it a lot harder to actually log out by hiding the logout button in a "popup", requiring you to click two times to log out.
Wiederschaun brings the logout button back in the top bar where it belongs.
How do I get it?
I have not published the extension on the Google Chrome Web Store since it is currently missing an icon. You can install the extension yourself:
- Download the files.
- Go to
- In the top right corner, activate "Developer mode".
- Click "Load unpacked extension…" and select the folder where the extension files are saved. The extension should now be imported into your browser.
- Continue browsing.
Why this stupid name?
"Wiederschaun" is a German word and means "Goodbye".
